Welcome to Modern Political Controversies!
MPC will explore in-depth controversies in America from both a liberal and conservative perspective. Issues that will be dealt with are included in the Units of Study section below. This course will rely heavily on publications such as the National Review for the conservative viewpoint and The New Republic for the liberal viewpoint. It is likely that guest speakers with strong opinions on these issues will appear in the class. Assignments will consist of written and oral reports, as well as formal debates on the various topics. A major theme of this class will be practicing civil discourse.
